What Should I Say To My Mom About Wearing Black Nail Polish?

My mom is not a religious fanatic or anything, but she won't let me wear black nail polish. I'm not 'emo' or 'goth', or whatever most posers call themselves, but I just like that color for nails! I'm planning to have a talk with her, but she's very hard to convince and get through to. I know the basic words...what should I say? To convince? She's afraid I'll become goth... o_v

Try Saying this in the nicest most sincere way….
"Mom. Can I please wear black nail polish?"
Try it and see how she replies
exactly what u just said to us :]
just tell her your not a goth, emo etc. and make up somethign about how black nails is the new clear glossy nails, .
When I first started wearing dark nail polish my mom was against it, but after a while she got used to it and now she doesn’t care what color my nails are =P
i would start off by bringing out some of my favorite outfits (choose bright ones with like some black accents) and say don’t you just love how bright and fun these outfits are and look how great the black looks in it and how much more it makes the outfit. then i would start my argument like i PROMISE i won’t go goth and if i do you can take away all my black nail polish and i would say black makes people look tanner and its a really cool trend don’t you want your daughter to be cool trendy and stylish and just keep going with your argument and if that doesn’t work then i would just go out and buy the nail polish and keep it a secret from my mom!!!! lol!!
Say this nicely to her
" Mom, I’m not emo or goth but it’s just Nail polish i like the color. I Promise just because of this i won’t turn emo or anything like that, so May i please wear it?"
Maybe wear a really dark brown that’s not black, but close enough and just slowly get her used to seeing it. Then, put on black one day and she may not see much of a difference.
I know black nail polish was really in last fall, and there were dozens of magazines showing celebrities and models wearing black nails. Try finding some magazine clippings to show her that just because someone wears black nails, does not mean that the person is "emo" or "goth."
Black nails can definitely be sophisticated, if you pair it with the right styles. Tell her and show her. I’ve worn black nails may times before, mostly during the fall and winter seasons, and many of my friends and family members thought the trend was really chic.
My Asian parents were against me wearing black nail polish too… You should just tell her that it’s not emo or goth to wear black nail polish. Tell her that it’s like wearing a black shirt.

Explain to her that black nail polish is not a prerequisite for becoming Goth or Emo. Both are music-based subcultures that entail much more than simply painting one’s nails black. Many high end makeup lines sell black nail polish because it is a very popular fashion trend on the runways. It is a neutral color that matches with anything, and that’s one reason why many fashion designers have their models wear it.
You should also explain to her that Goth and Emo are not negative terms. They are simply references to subcultures, and the picture the media tends to paint of them is a false one.
