It’s never true for any country that "everyone speaks English". Not even in England does everyone speak English. If you’re in a touristy area and there are a lot of people around, some one will speak English. But that is NOT the same thing as "everyone speaks English". The UK and the US receive tens of thousands of Polish students a year who come to learn English. Some already know a lot; some know almost nothing. And of course, that’s not surprising.
You’ll have a much better trip if you get some flashcards and learn 500 words in Polish. Get a dozen greetings, and a few hundred (each) nouns, verbs, adjectives. It won’t take that long to learn them.
Lots do! I am an american but my mom is polish. I live there for a month every summer. Dont worry there are a lot of people that speak english. Every young person there speaks english, so if worse comes to worse you can just ask someone on the street for help.
Family owned stores are a little different though. You probably wont find english speakers there.
