Hi guys! there are many institutions offering Polish language certification. However I am itching to know exactly what certifying body is "the" official one? any institution like Alliance Francais or Instituto Cervantes? is there any branch within Asia? or should I pack my bags and land in Warsaw?
Thanks!

I'm in high school and learning Spanish, but I REALLY would like to learn Polish (one day I hope to visit a friend who lives in Poland). For now I've just been printing out some basic Polish phrases and travel vocabulary. Does anyone have suggestions for the best way to learn Polish? Should I go to a class, buy a software program... etc. I'm not looking for a quick and easy way, I'd really like to learn the actual language, not just phrases.
It'd be awesome if your answers were from personal experience with the Polish language.

I haven't actually seen the film Sophie's Choice, but I have read that not only did Meryl adopt a Polish accent for the film, but in fact learnt the Polish language itself. I'm just curious to see whether this is true, because I'm quite interested in multilingual actors!
Thanks.

I am living in Poznan, Poland at the moment because I got accepted into Poznan University of Medical Sciences. My question is - I speak Russian flunetly and I am slowly picking up on the Polish language but I want to know how long it'll take before I can speak it fluently. I feel funny speaking Polish because I always think Im gonna mix up the Russian grammer into Polish. So how long would it take before I pick up on it and have you been in the same place before - having to learn polish..how did it go?
Thx A.K - I just came back from a bar with friends and they all spoke Polish and I was just left out sort of - and I had to ask on Y!A how long itll take before I pick up on it

I want to learn the pronunciation rules of Polish language. There are two 'L's. One is 'L' pronounced as in English. The other 'L' has a line through it. This sound picture does not exist in English and we find only 'L' in English transliteration of Polish names. So, we write Lech Wallesa but it is to be pronounced as "Lekh Waah-When- Saa". But, how to differentiate between the two, if transliterated in English?

When I visited Krakow in 2007, I struggled to learn the Polish language. I would tell people there Polish is a hard language to learn, they would say it is supposed to be one of the most difficult languages to learn...comparing it to the Chinese language in difficulty. Is that true?

The Jagellonski University in Krakow offers a fantastic summer program for students, but it's for college students. I'm in high school and I am very much interested in a language learning program for the Polish language, most preferably in Krakow.
Does anyone know of any camps or summer programs in Poland like this? Please only answer if you know.
