When the Jews were captured in the movie Schniders List, Weren't those Jews originally from Poland so how did they speak and communicate with the Germans? In the movie it shows them speaking English but what language did the Polish Jews speak with the Germans?
I can ask whatever I want. And no one has provided a good answer. If people are from Poland they won't know German and they Germans won't know Polish. So they can't talk to each other like they did in the movie. You failed to provide an answer probably because you do not know.

who knows honest life insurance agent in Poland?

Who knows honest life insurance agent in Poland? I have heard lots of horror stories how they are ripping of people who are foreigners and don’t speak good polish! Why did the Polish never eventually speak German?

There are several languages besides German, sorry for not being more specific in the question. Before 1914 when Germany, Russia, and Austria-Hungary all occupied the modern day area of Poland, were they not forced to assimilate, or did they fight to keep their culture. I imagine it must of been hard to do things while the rest of the country spoke Russian, German, or the several languages in Austria-Hungary, and not Polish... Basically, how did the Polish language survive?
Here you idiots. Maybe this will help you know Europe before the last 100 years.

My Polish friend is having a really tough time right now, and I want to give him some encouragement. What’s the Polish equivalent phrase to "don’t give up", and how is it pronounced?

The thing is, I want to speak in Polish to him, and I also want to use whatever phrase they’d use in Poland -- exactly like a Polish person.

Please help!! Thanks so much. :)
rakdos11 -- very funny. I'm not stupid, you know. Also, I presume you mean "Matka".

Questions for Polish Speakers! Translation?

Hey everyone,
So I'll be going to a wedding in Poland soon and I would like to know what to say to Congragulate them ( I do know how to speak some Polish, but not things like this). So anyway, I need this because my moms friend wants to put both their names ingraved onto two wineglasses...something like that. It needs to be so it can make sence in Polish or just a short something that Polish people usually say when someone gets married (and wont look weird written on wine glasses lol)
Thanks!

Can you believe Polish are telling jokes about our President?

A political scandal is gathering pace in Poland. Officials of the Polish administration are accused of releasing racist statements against US President-elect Barack Obama. Poland’s large opposition party Right and Justice said that the remarks had been voiced by the Polish Foreign Affairs Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, the Dziennik newspaper wrote.

“Why does Barack Obama have Polish roots? Because his grandfather ate a Polish missionary.” This is the joke that Sikorski supposedly distributed in his ministry. The minister, the newspaper wrote, explained afterwards that he had heard the joke from someone else. However, Witold Waszczykowski a spokesman for the National Security Bureau, confirmed that he had heard the joke from Sikorski and added that he would be ready to testify at court.

Can you speak in your native tongue?

As in the language from the country you have heritage to.
ex: Spanish - Spain, Polish - Poland

If so or not, what languages can you speak?

Polish people, lend me a hand with this name?

Hello :D
I'm writing a story where the protagonist is Irish/Polish (lol, not too uncommon, actually.)

I just need a little hand getting the name down to a T, especially with the surname.

I was thinking;

Forename: Freja <---- (does this name occur in Poland?)
Surname: Something polish beginning with a W, but not too common. Half of her family are extremely wealthy...so I'll leave the experts to that.

Thanks in advance, much appreciated!

Where do Polish live in and around London?

Hi,
I am looking for a nice Polish community for a friend who is coming over from Poland in the Summer. She is 24 and speaks little English, therefore, I would like to find her somewhere near lots of other Polish people. Perhaps any Polish girls out there could let me know of their experiences when they first arrived and where they finally settled down.
Many thanks.

Does ps3 game which is oryginally sold in Britain ( so English language) have also other languages like Polish for example?
For example EYEPET is sold in Britain in English, but in Poland in Polish. So i don't think that there are different versions of game, it should just depend in PS3 system language, shouldn't it?

My cousins just came from Poland and most of the time I have no idea what they're saying half of the time. Please help!

I have an awesome pen pal from Poland and would love to learn the language. Does anyone know of a good, free, and effective site that teaches Polish?

I'm currently a year ten student in the UK. I want to live in Poland when I'm older, I fell in love with the country when I went there for a week on a Holocaust study visit.

Ideally I'd like to study a law degree over there, but I don't speak Polish and I've heard that a Polish law degree taught in English doesn't hold much weight. So I started thinking about being an English teacher (EFL) in Poland, but to secondary school students.

I have recently seen a document that was issued by the UK government to a Polish citizen. It was a document stating that the person had the rights to work in the UK. The document contained biographical information as well. For nationality, it was written "Poland" rather than "Polish". I am flabbergasted...I always thought people must write adjectives, and not nouns for nationality. Is it grammatically correct to write the country name for nationality? Can I write my nationality is the Netherlands on my CV rather than Dutch?

Ok so i live in America, but i am 1/4 polish i know its not much but my mom still cooks polish food now and then, my grandfather was 100% polish and he knew the language and cultures and all that stuff, though he didnt have a chance to pass any of it down to my mom, when ever i look in our old photo albums its always of my polish grandparents and stuff and it made me very curious now im thinking about learning the language and taking a trip over there, i was woundering what people in poland would think of an american that knew polish to the point where you could hold a conversation but with an accent of course. cause all i hear is about how people in Europe think Americans are horrible disgusting pigs who need a better education.

I already am taking 2 years of Spanish in High School, but since my family is from Poland, I speak fluent Polish. And the bare minimun for the colleges I want to get into are 2 credits. Is there a test to count as another credit or two for college admissions?

Sorry that was really hard to word, sorry if it doesnt make much sense.

Polish Holocaust?Never hear about?

Why is it that you never hear about the polish holocaust of thousands of Pols getting killed for nothing during world war 2? They just made a movie about that just came out. I'm not trying to sound anti sematist but all you here about is the Jewish holocost. Please write in
Also to add on that I am not trying to act offencive twords people. I know that meny jews were killed and torchered for not good reasons but all I am really asking it why don't many people know this. For your information Rachelle K that was a un nessisary comment that I did not need also that not mostly Pols were Jews but christians many jews migrated to poland in the 1900's. Lastly that not only jews were priseners that christians were put in them to, and that they were treaded badly just as mush as the jews. Your comment was not only offencive to me but my grandfather and Grandmother who experenced this first hand.

My whole families from Poland, when I was little I had to learn English on my own. No one in my family knew how getting into college works, I was definetely unprepared, and now I'm scared I won't get into college. No one has gone to college in my family. I've been trying my hardest to do well. I take Spanish, but I speak polish too. I have a 3.1 unweighed, and 4.7 weighted

I know that the Bielski partisans spoke Russian to their Russian comrades, but they spoke yet another language (besides accented English to the audience, obviously) in the village, before they moved into the forest in hiding.

Was it Polish, or another language? I believe the region the movie was set in today's Belarus, or former German Nazi-occupied Poland.

Thanks for your help~

How to say this in Polish?

My dad told me that the only way I can get a German Shepherd puppy is if I call my grandparents in Poland and ask them politely if they could bring back a Purebred German Shepherd for me when they visit next month (they are wealthy people and probably wouldn't even care).

I know how to speak Polish, but I'm not sure how to phrase it. How should I tell them in the nicest way " If it wouldn't be a bother, I want a true gorgeous German Shepherd from Poland, if you guys could ,only if you don't mind, possibly get me one and bring it back for the next visit because it is all I've ever wanted and my parents made this agreement with me???????"

Or something along those lines.. Just something polite would be nice. PLEASE HELP??
