I am fluent in English, French and Polish and have always wondered what Polish sounds like to people who didn't grow up speaking it. Does it sound harsh, soft, fast or poetic? Does it sound similar to another language? This question is aimed primarily at speakers of a European language. Also specify what your native language is. Thanks in advance.

How do I stay confident in this situation?

I work as a researcher at the #1 news station in the country. I'm working hard to become a reporter, but since english's not my native language,I have a small accent. I've been working very hard to polish my pronunciation as my boss told me it was the only thing preventing me from working in front of the camera. Lately,I have been discouraged because everyone seems to be moving up and I'm struggling to convince everyone I am worth being a reporter as well. How can I stay confident in this cut-troath industry?

How to write certain accents?

My current story is set in a European circus, so the characters are all from different parts of Europe. Three are Polish, 2 are Norwegian, 1 is Irish but she doesn't speak much, 1 is Macedonian, but her accent is a mix between Greek and Polish, 1 is German, and 1 is Portuguese. i have no idea how to write their accents because they speak English around the circus site and their native language sometimes. In case you were wondering, the girl with a Polish and Greek accent is both Polish and Macedonian so she has a mixture of her mother's and her father's accents.

I would love to learn Spanish. My native language is Polish and my English isn't that bad.
Do you think it's possible to learn Spanish online? Just basic sentences and a way to carry on a decent conversation. I will have to take Spanish for 2 years at a university but I would like to jump start the process.
If you tried learning other languages online:
How was your experience? Did you learn a lot? How long did it take you?
Thanks

how can i change my computers language?

I have a Windows XP and i would like to change the language from english into polish. What do i exactly have to download and from what website?
Well i changed my regional language but its still in English. Just the time is my native language. For example instead of "Welcome" on the screen i want it in Polish

What language would you like to know?

My native language is swedish, and i speak english and some spanish. I would like to know a slavic language, like polish or russian. I like how they sound and it's a more original choice than, let's say, french or german ;)

What about you?

My native language is Polish (Slavic language group like Slovak, Russian or Czech) and I speak English fluently. And now I wanna learn a new language. What language is easier to learn - German, Spanish or French (taking into consideration that I speak English) and why? I kinda hate learning grammar :) , so it is important.

Thank you for your help!

My wife is Polish and I wanted to get her a couple nice books written in her native language to take with us on vacation. If anyone knows of other good books written in Polish please mention them...I just know she loves sci-fi which is why I narrowed it down to Jacek Dukaj. Cheers!
