How to get sharpie off of a rubbermaid box!?

okay, my mom brought home this rubbermaid box for me to use in my room. And it has sharpie marker written on it. I tried nail polish remover, but that didn't work. Any ideas? I need to get this permanent marker off as soon as I can! Please Help!

My Mom's eyesight is failing and she wants to listen to people speak in Polish. She's 94 and still very active. How can I get to listen to radio, talk and classic music? My budget is modest, my time is short, but she's worth all I have.

Is nail polish a carcinogen?

I heard my mom talking about how nail polish is a carcinogen (something that increases your risk for cancer) and am worried now. I feel like painting my nails (girly but whatever), but I want to be as healthy as I can be. My mom says that it's only with high exposure like with people who work in a salon, but I'm still concerned. Am I making mountains out of molehills?

What do you think of the Polish language?

I'm asking because I added Polish as a minor to my degree at my university. My mom is freaked and told me I should be more practical and look at learning on of the more in-demand languages like Mandarin// Persian// or Arabic.

I'm asking you to help me persuade her into thinking that it is a well investment. But in all honesty I think it is really beautiful language and could care less if it takes me somewhere. XD

Thank you.

If u need information about my mom please write to me. She wants a job where she can watch the kids and clean the house.

English to Polish translation please?

Hi I want to get a tattoo and I am half polish on my mom's side and one of her favorite disney characters is dory from finding nemo and i wanted to get "just keep swimming" in polish as a tattoo under this beautiful fish sketch that was drawn. can anyone translate "just keep swimming" into polish for me?

Ok so i live in America, but i am 1/4 polish i know its not much but my mom still cooks polish food now and then, my grandfather was 100% polish and he knew the language and cultures and all that stuff, though he didnt have a chance to pass any of it down to my mom, when ever i look in our old photo albums its always of my polish grandparents and stuff and it made me very curious now im thinking about learning the language and taking a trip over there, i was woundering what people in poland would think of an american that knew polish to the point where you could hold a conversation but with an accent of course. cause all i hear is about how people in Europe think Americans are horrible disgusting pigs who need a better education.

What language should we speak at home?

My parents are from Bulgaria, a country in Europe for those that don't know. They were born there and so was I. We came to the US 5 years ago, which would mean that we came when I was 10, almost 11. My brother wasn't even one yet. He used to think he lived in the US his whole life until a few years ago, which he literally did- he doesn't remember even a thing. Now, I speak english very well and my mom is OK, and my dad can speak but he has an accent and mixed up grammar. Naturally, i'm used to speaking bulgarian with my parents but we speak english in public places becasue we all think its kinda rude to yell in a diferent language in the middle of, lets say the school or a fancy concert. My brother couldn't really speak bulgarian until this year, but he understood. I always speak to him in english- it feels natural to me. But when he speaks with my parents, they might be spaeking bulgarian and he answers in english. My brother can't even speak to my grandma well on the phone- my dad has to sit with him and give him hints of what to say.

Now, from time to time we have this problem of whether my parents should just start speaking in english. I'm fine with speaking to my brother and he is to them. But now my parents will never be able to really talk in english- they've spoken bulgarian to each other all their lieves. And to tell you the truth i feel a little akward speaking to my dad in english as well.

We don't want to seem like the just-arrived immigrants becasue i know how frustrating it is to hear chinese people speak loudly on the bus when they have been in the US for over 20yrs and still haven't learned the language. I wish we could all just speak english to each other at home, it would make things so much less complicated... but it just feels akward sometimes. how can we make them less strange at home (which i would really like) or should we just spkeak naturally with english and bulgarian words together. Somethimes my father gets really upset and demands that everyone speak to him in english and when i ask him a question, he answers back in his broken english, "Pleese Speak in english!!!". sometimes i feel that my father wants to become "Americanized" too much, but then, we do look and act like americans- after all we're europeans too... we definitley speak english outside of the house, but should we start speaking it inside as well?? I don't know, have any of you guys ever had that problem???

I see polish and russian people speaking polish/russian in parks and streets, and they don't feel akward. Bulgarian is practically like the two languages combined...

any ideas?
GretcherS, yes, i agree, i'll try to alternate the languages so that we forget neither englidh or Bulgarian. Speaking of German, that is a great example! I used to spak German fluently when I was little and I even had friends who when they first met me asked me when i'm going back to Germany- they thought I was on vacation in Bulgaria.... hehe. anyway, I stoppen speaking and now all i know is a few phrases and I can somewhat vaguely understand simple sentences. :(

i speak french polish and english but i live in canada polish is my family language but idk if girls find it a turn off bc my mom and grandparents all talk polish. french i learned from french immersion but french is not that cool but im just wondering bout polish

Should I learn Norwegian or Polish?

I want to learn at least one "unique" language, and I've narrowed my choices down to Norwegian and Polish. Problem is, I don't know which one to choose!

My Grandma speaks Polish fluently, and my mom used to be able to. It's a beautiful language, and seems complex, but that's what's so intriguing! I also love how it sounds. :) Same with Norwegian!

Anyways, which one would you want to study?
To you, which one sounds better?
I'm already learning Spanish. ;) But after, I want to focus on another language - either Norwegian or Polish.

(:

My mom says it sorta goes by gender and who you are talking about. Like:
If I am talking past tense about myself, the words ends with am.
If I was talking past tense about you, it would end in either eś or aś depending on your gender
If I was talking about "him" or a boy, the verb would end in ł
and so on....Is this correct?

If not, what are the rules to conjugate verbs to be past tense?

My family moved to America in 1911. On my mothers side of the family I am a pure blood Polish. I know that my great-great grandmother only spoke Polish, my great grandmother wanted nothing to do with it, my grandmother speaks a little Polish and my mom and I know a few words. My mom's maiden name is Kuzniewski. I want to know how I can learn about my roots because the information I just gave is all I know.

I have always been viewed as a little Polish girl, since I was a baby my mom always called me her "Little Polish Princess." I want to learn all I can about my ancestry and traditions etc.

For my wedding I looked up Polish wedding traditions and found a few that I loved. One was the family giving wine, bread and salt to the new couple. Another I loved was the Czypek. I don't know how accurate they are I just know that is what I found by doing research.

Please help me learn about where I came from.
Also would my name (Kelli) be pronounced differently in Polish? My grandmother didn't know.

Topic 2- Art
When I was 5 years old, I attended to a pre-school.
This pre-school teaches all sort of things but foucused on art.
There' I folded papers into shapes, I drew, and I colored them.
Since, I finished that pre-school I never went to any art classes.
After two years from emigration from South Korea to U.S.,
my mom forced me to go to art class where I really didn't want to go.
However, I had no choice so I just when there. There I learend how to draw figures,
how to color, and drawing portrait. When I first draw the portrait of some model, I was
satisfied by myself. It was very good. I have no idea where this skills come from.
From then, I spend my leisure time to draw to enjoy myself and to improve my skills.
I'm asking for check my grammarical mistakes and fix some of them if needed

I have family there
My mom lives there
I never been there, never meet anyone on my mom side of the family.
I don't speak Polish just couple of phrases

I have 3 thousand saved in the bank
Probably around 4 thousand if i keep saving, by this summer.

Do you think i could get any kind of job, not knowing much Polish?
And you think i could move there, for a couple of months?
Living with my mom family, after a graduate from high school.
I am not going to a college, just community college.

I am 18 girl.

Is it because Americans have never explored any other culture or cant locate anything on the map? I personaly can say that I have 2 native languages, Polish and English, I grew up on the both of them. I also know ukrainian and learning German. I use Polish and English on an everyday basis, and sometimes Ukrainian. Definatly English is the easiest one! I talked to lots of Poles, Ukrainian , Russian, Latinos, and they all said that English is relatively easy compared to thier native languages. Some said that English is even easier fotr them then thier native languages; example my mom, who is Polish. English dosen't have any grammatical gender, no confusing times, or any noun deciloation, or whatever its called. So trust me English could be said to e one of the easiest languages to learn.

Is it weird for me to like to wear nail polish?

If I'm a guy I it weird to wear nail polish and I'm talking about pink and red..... Also if u can help me how do I tell my mom about it

How can I learn Polish for free?

When I was smaller I lived in Poland for 9 years, since then I have forgotten the language which at the time I was fluent in, do you know where I could learn to speak it again for free? I asked my mom about it and she said the programs like Rosetta stone are too expensive, I agree I don't want to spend 200 Dollars on a single program, do you know where I could learn it for free online?

How to secretly learn Polish?

So my dad is 100% polish, and his parents lived in Poland when they were children. Both of them spoke Polish as their first language, and learned English when they moved to America. My dad never learned it, and my grandparents died when I was 10 years old. I've recently been more and more interested in my Polish heritage and really want to learn how to speak it. Unfortunatly my school doesn't offer it as a class, and my parents think it's kinda weird how I'm so interested in it (so I'd rather just learn it on my own). Are there any websites where I can learn th basics? That has accurate translations? In about 10 minutes I've learn No (Nia), and Przepraszam (I'm sorry) <- I may have mispelt that. But then my mom got home so I had to sign out. Should I just wait and take it in college? I'm currently taking Spanish right now and it's coming pretty easy to me...
Thanks for the Rosetta Stone suggestions. Unfortunatly that costs money, so I guess I will just learn the basics online, and then buy it when I move out in 3 years.

I didn't learn anything at my polish school. My mom spend 0 on that school, and it was a big waste, but hey... it was fun. I learn a lot in my normal school but not my other school. Why?

Mom teach me native language, Polish.?

I'm currently 15 years old and I speak English fluently and I take academic courses in Spanish (5 years), German (2-3 years), and Latin. In all of these classes I have an average over 95.

I understand that learning a language through a course is much different than immersion, but I'm sure that I'd pick up Polish through immersion if I could just get my native, Poland-born mom to teach me. I only have 3 years left at home and she refuses to teach me Polish the same way she taught me English.

ps. I know she still is fluent b.c. she talks to her friends/family all the time

Would polish be hard for me to learn?

My Mom's side of the family is polish, and my grandma, great grandpa, and great grandpa's care taker speak polish (she is from Poland) do you think it would be easier because i have someone in the family that does? I only know english (obviously). and very little to no spanish.

My mom is not a religious fanatic or anything, but she won't let me wear black nail polish. I'm not 'emo' or 'goth', or whatever most posers call themselves, but I just like that color for nails! I'm planning to have a talk with her, but she's very hard to convince and get through to. I know the basic words...what should I say? To convince? She's afraid I'll become goth... o_v

My father is teaching me, but when I'm at my Mom's house, i want to be able to practice an learn on my own without purchasing a big and expensive program like Rosetta Stone. In my old Spanish class at school, we used to go to studyspanish.com and it would provide some free lessons, tests and games. Now that i am learning Polish, i am wondering if there is a website like that out there for learning Polish. Help please!

How often should I polish my Violin?

I'm wondering how often I should polish my violin. I play it at school every day and the rosin can build up under the strings by the bridge if I forget to wipe it after I play (this happens often).

The violin is 93 years old. It has a nice pale-orange varnish on it.

I have a bottle of polish that my mom bought. It has Fiddlebrite written on it. I'm not sure if I should use it on this violin or not.
I'd also like some suggestions on what kind of violin polish to use, Thanks.

My Mother was Polish and used to call us kids a word that sounded like "shmikoo" She said it meant something like cute little one, or something similar to that.

We have a puppy and I want to name him that in honor of my Mom

I didn't learn anything at my polish school. My mom spend 0 on that school, and it was a big waste, but hey... it was fun. I learn a lot in my normal school but not my other school. Why?

The other day i told my mom i was feeling blue and all of a sudden my ipod shuffle played Blue Suede Shoes by Elvis P. and when we got out of the car and went to a shop this women offered to put blue nail polish on my nails and stuff.
