What different languages do they speak in Poland?

I know they speak polish but do the people speak any other languages?

Why did the Polish never eventually speak German?

There are several languages besides German, sorry for not being more specific in the question. Before 1914 when Germany, Russia, and Austria-Hungary all occupied the modern day area of Poland, were they not forced to assimilate, or did they fight to keep their culture. I imagine it must of been hard to do things while the rest of the country spoke Russian, German, or the several languages in Austria-Hungary, and not Polish... Basically, how did the Polish language survive?
Here you idiots. Maybe this will help you know Europe before the last 100 years.

Polish seems to have less language materials then various other languages for the English speaker.

I'd like to learn these as my top five languages to pursue a career as a translator. Most important is Arabic, followed by Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and lastly Polish.

What language program is the Vatican hiding?

How is it that Popes seem to speak so many languages? Just looking at the current and former Popes.

Benedict XVI: German, Italian, French, English, Spanish, Dutch, and Latin, and has a knowledge of Portuguese. Also can read Ancient Greek and biblical Hebrew.

John Paul II: Polish, Italian, French, German, English, Spanish, Croatian, Portuguese, Russian and Latin.

What I want to know is, what language training program is the Vatican hiding?

I need an accurate Polish translation (for a tattoo)?

Hi there, I am half Polish but haven't spoken the language since I was 3, so my level is so innacurate. For many reasons I have a phrase I wish to get tattooed, once I find a good fluent speaker in both languages, annoyingly none of my friends or family fit the bill.

The phrase I'd like to get is "Family shows (or is shown) through love, not blood."

Thanks in advance, I will vote best answer tomorrow :) Annie x

Good website for learning Polish (free)?

I would like to learn Polish (especially conversational). I've been directed to the site below, but the speaker is much too fast, and gives long phrases. I'm good with languages, but I can't make out at all what he's saying. It's a shame, because otherwise it looks like a well laid-out website.

TIA!

I know a little Polish, and only one word of Albanian (Miredita), and I know I'm going to have to immerse myself in both languages. But, do you think I can be sort of fluent by April of next year?

Is it even possible? I'm an American, so I only speak one language currently.

I have read that they are very useful and commonly spoken languages. What other languages would you recommend that are useful around the world, and relatively easy?

I've been talking to this girl on YouTube who claims she's fluent in:
English, spanish, german, swedish, polish, italian, and french.

That's just crazy to me!
I've never met anyone who is hep-ligual!
Is that even possible?
I was talking to her about it, and she said that she has family members who are of these nationalities, but I don't even think she's that old...

Is she lying...or is she not as fluent as she says she is?
BQ:
How many languages are you fluent in?
Me - ONE!

I want to learn a few languges so its easier for me to get a job, right now i'm trying to learn both spanish and hindi right now, then i want to learn mandrin chinese because its common. I want to learn one of the languages of my ancestors.

Is it possible to learn 9 languages?

I'm an English speaker and I want to learn

Spanish
Italian
French
German
Polish
Swedish
Finnish
Estonian
And Russian.

I was wondering if it was possible to be fluent enough in all those languages to get around in those countries? I know some of them are similar which would make it a bit easier.

I've been wondering this for years, Polish is easy, but Russian takes tongue and throat work. Chinese is tonal, writing system is difficult, the pronunciation though is somewhat easy, but thats my opinion. Do you agree that Russian is the hardest language. I'm asking those who have experiences with languages or regular people who think they can answer this question.

Can you speak in your native tongue?

As in the language from the country you have heritage to.
ex: Spanish - Spain, Polish - Poland

If so or not, what languages can you speak?

I want to begin learning a new language. Right now I only speak English. These are the languages I would like learn but I will learn whatever is the easiest.
So here are the ones I like to learn: Russian, French, Polish, and German
I'm not going to learn all of them of course but I need you guys to help me determine which you find easy to learn. :)

What language should I learn?

I speak English and French fluently and I'm learning Polish. Because of these languages I can communicate in Europe almost everywhere, Canada, America, and all over the world. I can learn one more language but I don't know which one to choose. I would like to learn an Asian language. Could you also tell me why I should learn it? THANKS!!!!!!!

Does ps3 game which is oryginally sold in Britain ( so English language) have also other languages like Polish for example?
For example EYEPET is sold in Britain in English, but in Poland in Polish. So i don't think that there are different versions of game, it should just depend in PS3 system language, shouldn't it?

Help with Polish translation please?

How do you say, " Your brother in law is an Idiot".? please don't send me to google languages or sites like that because they are not 100% right. I would love help from a native speaker. thanks!

What do you think of the Polish language?

I'm asking because I added Polish as a minor to my degree at my university. My mom is freaked and told me I should be more practical and look at learning on of the more in-demand languages like Mandarin// Persian// or Arabic.

I'm asking you to help me persuade her into thinking that it is a well investment. But in all honesty I think it is really beautiful language and could care less if it takes me somewhere. XD

Thank you.

How do you say "f*** me" in polish and german?

or any other fun swear words in those languages?
I speak both pretty fluently because [learned from my parents] but really haven't learned how to curse :p

Hello! Anyone can help me learn Polish?

Hi, everyone. I would really love to learn how to write Polish (I can already read it, so no problems for pronounciation).....I mean, grammar, vocabulary......it is hard for me to study grammar rules and learn all the declensions by heart, but I find it easier to learn by reading other people's comments on youtube for example, while I make an effort to write Polish sentences with the help of dictionaries and translators. Problem is, translators don't always give the correct translations and they're not gonna explain me things.
So, if you want to, and only if you want to (I'm not forcing anyone), would you please help me learn? I learn languages fast. I understand some German, Spanish and French.
I have Polish origins so obviously I am interested in this wonderful language :)
I use Youtube.....My channel is: http://www.youtube.com/rockyborowczyk

But contact me only if you're a native Polish speaker....cause it's a hard language and I need the help of a native person, plus I'd like to learn it correctly.

P.S: I'm learning Czech too, so if you speak Czech too, it'd be awesome!

I can help you improve your English!

Thank you :)

Rocky

Which language should I learn?

I already know Spanish and French and I want to expand it to harder languages. I tried learning Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean, but they weren't really languages that interested me. So basically it's been boiled down to Polish and Russian for me. I love the sound of both, but I can't choose which one to learn. Which one should I learn, Polish or Russian? Btw, usefulness isn't really a factor for me. Thanks.

I'm Bosnian, my husband is Polish, we live in South Africa (English) and we are soon to move to Germany. I speak all 4 of these languages, but how on earth should I teach them to my 2 year old girl? We are speaking only English with her at the moment, but I want her to know her mother's and father's language too. I know children learn quickly, but how do I start? The longer I wait, the more difficult it gets. Any practical suggestions?
Thank you!

I am in need of translating a web page from Polish to English. Not just a word or sentence but the whole web page. I can find for other languages but not Polish. Can anyone help me?

Where can I learn a language online and free?

I've been trying to find out if there is anywhere on the Internet where I can learn a language, but literally learn the language, in which it really works. I've heard of that Rosetta Stone and thought of getting it, but I want to be able to learn a language for free. The languages I would probably want to learn are either Portuguese (Brazil), Polish, and Italian. Please tell me if you have used whatever you have used and if it worked for you. Thanks.

Which languages are most useful to learn?

I am a fifteen year old American (If it helps, I live in Rhode Island and will likely stay here) who is proficient in French and Swedish and learning Spanish and Polish.

I've considered learning Mandarin or Japanese, but I've also read that both are virtually useless outside of China or Japan. Are there any languages that would be particularly useful? Any that are fairly simple?

Language is my hobby, so any opinions are appreciated.

I would love to learn Polish?

The language stops at my grandfather because he never taught my father. I've already taught myself how to spell and pronounce Polish words, it even comes really easy to me...I'm wondering if there's a website or something I can go to where there are plenty of Polish speakers who wouldn't mind helping or something. I just want something where I can have a conversation in Polish to help me practice.
;^_^ I should mention that I'm on a budget. Rosetta Stone and traveling aren't exactly going to work..not to mention I can't do much without my parents consent -_-
I'm young but I've taught myself languages before, I'm a natural...but Polish is very hard, which is why I'm requesting a website as such...

These languages are on my learning list.
Spanish
Portuguese
Polish
Chinese

I am already learn 2 languages so I will learn the next when I am 15 or 16.

But which should I learn first (not based on usefulness)

which is harder to pick up as an adult is what I mean.

By the way I am learning French and German right now.

Thank you.

Pronunciation of a polish word?

Well this question was asked already but I want to restate it because I just cannot perceive the sound one has to make when it is pronounced:

świat

now what is the sound you hear between the sh and the -ont as in ontology?

is that a v, an f, an h or even a k? What I hear sounds like a very quickly pronounced k, or a hard(what's the adjective for this) h.

I am not studying Polish(though I'd love to learn many languages if I had the chance and Polish is one of them) or something but I love Myslovitz's "Długość dźwięku samotności" (Sound of Solitude), I am trying to sing along, but gee Polish is so hard =))

Thank you.
Wow that was really quick. Thank you very much Alex, I practically racked my brain over it, finding its audio pronunciation and then playing it like a hundred times and sticking my ear to the speakers =D
Oh by the way it's via your answer that I now get to see "świat " and "Świąt!" both are words in Polish - that is unless they were wrongly spelled in the sites I found them.

So there's no n sound in the former but the latter has one right before the t because ą has an "n" sound attached to it as opposed to standard a.

Thanks again =)

I would love to learn Spanish. My native language is Polish and my English isn't that bad.
Do you think it's possible to learn Spanish online? Just basic sentences and a way to carry on a decent conversation. I will have to take Spanish for 2 years at a university but I would like to jump start the process.
If you tried learning other languages online:
How was your experience? Did you learn a lot? How long did it take you?
Thanks

I learned Spanish this year, and soon fell in love with languages in general. So, I decided that next year I want to learn a little bit more about my heritage and learn either Polish or Gaelic. But how many people actually speak Gaelic in Ireland today? No doubt it would be interesting to learn, but would it be usefull?

I have a website. I want to translate it to spanish and other languages. What are the best top level domains to get for:
spanish, french, germain, polish, asian, and italian. Thanks for the help guys! =)

Well. i have the opportunity to choose one of these languages and learn one of them - all from scratch, but i dont know what to pick.
Advice?
And why would you recommend it? Which is most useful?
thanks :)
