I work in a hotel, where I work in an office, in which I was speaking with a fellow employee in spanish. Another manager who was in their own office came and asked us not to speak in spanish because it really bother's them...I immediately though they might have thought we were speaking about them which I made very clear that I was not and that I refuse to do what she says. I do not agree with this because she is actually of Polish descent and sits on the phone and speaks Polish all day and I have never said anything or would never dream of saying anything because it's just not right. She could be speaking about me without me knowing as well.

So unless this is affecting my job or my daily duites, I don't believe she can ask this of just me and my co-worker unless it is a policy that is put in place for the whole establishment and all of the workers within. After I refused, she then proceeded to say "Well them I guess I need to hire more Polish people so that I cans peak Polish with them" and walked away.

I am on the Sales side of the hotel, and she is an operations manager, I do not answer to her and she cannot ask this of me. I feel like touching on the subject again with this individual and I might need to take it to someone above her head as well.

Can anyone help me on this situation? I have put myself in her shoes and I do understand that it isrude to speak in another language in fron of other people and exlude them but again, I was in my own office, and they were not included in the conversation....
