I am planning on taking Russian next semester; however, Russian 101 is not available at my school, just 102. I have no previous Russian experience, but I am fluent in Polish, which is quite similar. I can understand a lot of Russian words and know what they mean. I plan to study the alphabet a bit and become more familiar with the language. Do you think it would be a bad idea to register for RUS 102?

I am part German and Polish, and I want to touch on my roots. Someday I want to go to Germany and study for a semester during college (Spring Break next year I'm going for a week), as well as Poland if I could, and I just want to brush up on the basics--- alphabet, pronunciation, vital vocabulary/phrases, etc.
Does anyone have any good FREE online helping tools suggestions? It means a lot to me, to learn about where I came from, because the rest of my family doesn't really care. :S
Thanks in advanced

I am bilingual and speaking both fluent Polish and English but am interested in learning Russian. Would my knowlegde of Polish help? Also what would I find the hardest to get to grips with? (other than the alphabet)

Do you think it is easier learning Russian if you are already fluent in another Slavic language (Polish). I can understand some Russian words, since they are similar. Though, I know the alphabet is different. Just wondering if any of you have done this.
Thank you.

I'm twelve years old and I have been intrested in learning either Russian or Polish.
Which sounds better? (which sounds nicer?)
Which is easier to learn? (grammar, alphabet, etc.
Please help me, before I invest a lot of my time into this.
Thanks so much.

I am trying to teach myself Polish. I have this "Polish in Four Weeks" book that has different phrases and stuff and i just want to learn kinda of basic so it works. But the part on how to PRONOUNCE everything is not fully explained. That seems like the hardest part to me. Because they have the same alphabet but way different sounds.
So i looked on line for something better. And they explain is better with better examples and everything. But now the problem is that different web sites say DIFFERENT things. So i am all lost and confused. If any of you have know Polish pronunciation, do you think that you could find me a list of the alphabet and how to say the letters?? One that is the REAL thing? That would be a HUGE help. Thank you!
