I need to talk to someone polish !?
I went to Krakow on Easter. Had amazing time there. Lovely city. I climbed to the Krakow mound. There was a festival kind of thing. Sellers were selling old polish folk costume, accessories etc. I bought a woman hair accessory. It is like a wreith and you wear it on your head.
Here is the question. I do need to learn which region in Poland it'd be used in old times? Is it like daily costume or would it be put on only festival times(dancing) or special days?
I'm college student and study social science. I havent found anything about this wreath (went to library, called conculs, seached on internet but nothing)
I can send the photo of this accessory and mail, if someone want to help me.

You mean a wianek. Unmarried girls would wear it as a sign of purity and virginity until they were married. In some ceremonies the newly-married bride would give her wianek to her new husband as a token of love. The wianek’s a part of Krakow dress but it was also used throughout most of Poland. Since most Poles continued to wear folk costumes on a daily basis until the 20th century girls would wear it everyday. Now it’s worn on festival days or any other time the stroj would be worn. But I remember making them out of fresh flowers as a child so children are pretty much allowed to wear them whenever they want.
But if you want to e-mail me a picture to make sure, we can do that.
Sure, I’d be happy to try and help you out:]
If that accessory you’ve got is like a flower-wreath, it’s most likely part of Cracovian or Upper-Silesian folk costume. Im not sure how often it was used and on what occasions, but can look it up tomorrow :]
Would be helpful if you’d send a photo, too :]

Well if it is like flowers then it is the Krakow region. In Poland people really only wear these for festivals and celebration. I do Polish dancing the costumes are so fun! The dance is the Krakowiak and we wear those!
