Ok. Take into account this is a language that has the grammatical structure of a nightmare, because all things are either male, female or neutral (as in – the dog "ten pies" is male, that dress "ta sukienka" is female, and that apple "to jablko" is neutral) and you’ll quickly pick up what belongs where coz it will sound weird! Otherwise, just listening to spoken Polish will help you pick up basics, but have a traveller’s guide with you to at least understand things like – the train leaves at.. o’clock,etc.. Best thing is to spend time in the country for a while, speaking with younger locals who have some command of english, and you’ll quickly be speaking it like a Pole ! Good luck ….

immerse yourself in it – surround yourself with people who speak the language. if you are older it’s harder then if you are young. i tried when i was too old and so mine is rather broken. however – the mass and songs – i’m good with that becuase i was surrounded by it. when i was in Poland for a while, conversations were not really possibly – but i didn’t get stuck anywhere!!
