Does knowing Latin make it easier to learn Polish?

I have been thinking about learning Polish and I currently am taking Latin, its only my first year of it but i feel i am doing rather well. But I would just like to know if knowing latin gives you an edge when studying latin. I do believe the Cyrillic Alphabet is a lot like the Latin(Which is also the alphabet for the Romance Languages give or take a few letters)
I knew that Polish wasn't a Romance language, but I can see why you may have thought I didn't know that. Thanks to the both of you

Latin is useful to help learning almost all European languages, as they have something of it; moreover Latin is supposed to be a "rationalist" language, but so difficult due to declination and conjugation (which many other languages have too, such as German, Dutch, Slavic ones etc.). Now, Cyrillic alphabet is a mixture of Greek and Latin ones, with a few special letters or symbols with Slavic origin. (Polish, Russian, Czech, Bosnian and all Slavic languages are too complex – in my opinion -, moreover those which use Cyrillic alphabets, each one having "just a little bit more of particularities", ah ha ha ha!… I find Russian perhaps the most or at least one of the most beautiful languages to be listened to, due to their intonation and palatal sounds; however… it´s too difficult, due to alphabet, declinations, conjugations and other hard things – I don´t intend to learn such things anymore!!!).

knowing latin helps you learn almost any language easier since most are derived from it
Polish is not a romance language. Learning Latin can help you with French, Spanish, Italian, Romanian. Polish is a Slavic language, though it uses the Roman alphabet (with diacritical marks).
So knowing the Roman alphabet will make Polish much easier to read. But you already knew the alphabet. 8^)
Latin can help a bit, but knowing Russian or Ukrainian would be more help in learning Polish, at least as far as vocabulary and grammar.
Latin grammar rules can help with Polish, because it also uses a case system like Latin. But as someone else already mentioned, Polish is written in the Latin alphabet, with a lot of diacritics (accent marks) to distinguish sounds.
It’s a challenging language, but a truly fascinating one.

It will help in that you are used to dealing with grammar, idioms, and forms of speech different from English.
Polish is a Slavic and not a Romance language. It does not have as many similarities to Latin as Spanish or Portuguese.
