There are several languages besides German, sorry for not being more specific in the question. Before 1914 when Germany, Russia, and Austria-Hungary all occupied the modern day area of Poland, were they not forced to assimilate, or did they fight to keep their culture. I imagine it must of been hard to do things while the rest of the country spoke Russian, German, or the several languages in Austria-Hungary, and not Polish... Basically, how did the Polish language survive?

I've been in the U.S 8 years. I speak English really well, however, I still have noticeable accent. It's not really a hard one, but still, people do notice it. When, I go out to the bars or clubs to meet women, I don't think having an accent it an advantage, moreover I think it's a disadvantage. Hi there, I am half Polish but haven't spoken the language since I was 3, so my level is so innacurate. For many reasons I have a phrase I wish to get tattooed, once I find a good fluent speaker in both languages, annoyingly none of my friends or family fit the bill.
