o.k im half Polish but i don't speak any, only the odd word and i really, really want to find out the meaning behind my name if it has one but no english site has my name listed and ive tried polish sites using my polish dictionary but its so hard to understand!

May be from the verb WIC= to curl, and WICIE= meanders (of a river),
the ending KOWSKI means son of s.o. being like … that (a meander). I have in mind something like a sofisticated person.
But if if it was originally written Wycikowski, it would derive from the word
Wyciac= to cut

perhaps there is no meaning in the sense of a definition behind your name. *ski* ending means your ancestors were members of nobility. Most likely the root would be the name of a town which your ancestors called home. Wicie is a town located in northern Poland near Baltic Sea, my guess is your ancestors called it home.
I did some digging, it is a very old family and your coat of arms is LELIWA, here it how it looks, it was first mentioned in 11th century. Please note tha name has undergone some changes, I went by documents which enumerate the families with names closest to yours and that is what I found. Since your coat of arms is most likely of Teutonic origin and Wicie are located in a region of Poland claimed by both Teutonic knights and Poles, it is likely.

I recently married a man from Zittau, Germany, which is a small town on the border of Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic. His last name (and now my new one) is Langkowski. My husband’s Langkowski side lost all family documentation during WWII when his family members were sent to work camps located in Russia and Poland. We have no record of where the name came from and it is confusing because this is a German family and (as far as they know) have no record of Polish ancestory. Does anyone know what “Langkowski” means? or what region it might be from? Thanks to anyone who can help!
