Well, since you asked the "best" way to learn Polish, I think the answer is obviously: move to Poland and take classes.
Second best way? Move to Chicago.
More realistic way? Do what I’m doing…
Step 1, familiarize yourself with the alphabet and the associated sounds.

Step 2, go to LiveMocha and start the free Polish lessons there.

Step 3, get a Polish phrasebook — one of those handy little books for travelers to "get by" in another language.
Step 4, if you haven’t lost interest, and you’re still pretty serious about it at this point, now is the time to get some good study materials, like a Living Language book+CD program, so you can start learning sentence structure, grammar, noun declension, verb conjugation, etc.
Find someone who knows how to and just have conversations with them. That’s how I learned

Hi,
There`s no better way than use the language everyday, read newspapers , watch tv and talk to people!
I`m 100 % polish, I used to live in Washington DC area and that was the best way for me to learn English.
I can help you with polish if you want to. We can talk on skype, exchange emails etc.
ps. I`m 26 yrs old female, very friendly and patient – i`m working with little kids
The best way? To contact me! I’m a qualified Polosh teacher!:)
