How Long Would it Take to Learn Polish?

Say if I were to study an hour a day.. how long do you reckon it would take to firmly grasp the language?
Also what are the benefits of learning such a language?

Cheers,

-DC

How to write certain accents?

My current story is set in a European circus, so the characters are all from different parts of Europe. Three are Polish, 2 are Norwegian, 1 is Irish but she doesn't speak much, 1 is Macedonian, but her accent is a mix between Greek and Polish, 1 is German, and 1 is Portuguese. i have no idea how to write their accents because they speak English around the circus site and their native language sometimes. In case you were wondering, the girl with a Polish and Greek accent is both Polish and Macedonian so she has a mixture of her mother's and her father's accents.

How would you pronounce this Polish word?

The polish word, Jesienia...what would the correct pronunciation be? (in english it means autumn)

Hello! Anyone can help me learn Polish?

Hi, everyone. I would really love to learn how to write Polish (I can already read it, so no problems for pronounciation).....I mean, grammar, vocabulary......it is hard for me to study grammar rules and learn all the declensions by heart, but I find it easier to learn by reading other people's comments on youtube for example, while I make an effort to write Polish sentences with the help of dictionaries and translators. Problem is, translators don't always give the correct translations and they're not gonna explain me things.
So, if you want to, and only if you want to (I'm not forcing anyone), would you please help me learn? I learn languages fast. I understand some German, Spanish and French.
I have Polish origins so obviously I am interested in this wonderful language :)
I use Youtube.....My channel is: http://www.youtube.com/rockyborowczyk

But contact me only if you're a native Polish speaker....cause it's a hard language and I need the help of a native person, plus I'd like to learn it correctly.

P.S: I'm learning Czech too, so if you speak Czech too, it'd be awesome!

I can help you improve your English!

Thank you :)

Another Polish Translation?

I am trying to find a phrase to add to wedding gift for parents but in Polish it takes up much more room than in English. I have to keep searching for smaller things to say
Can someone please translate "With your blessing we marry,
with your love we live".

If you already speak another language. Do you still have to take 2 years of language in high school in order to make it to certain college? For example i already speak natural Polish & English. Do I still need to take language classes in high school?

I'm an adult adoptee who has learned that my birth mother is 100% POLISH, yet immigrated to the USA in the 1960's from GERMANY before giving birth to me in 1969... I'm curious about many things, but like non-adopted kids, it'd be nice to know where my physical peculiarities MAY come from.... I'd ask it, but I'm afraid of having some PSYCHO tell me it's moronic, ignorant, racist, bigoted, etc. of me to ask and they wont be here for me to bludgeon face to face, when they do, so I've decided to just not ask it for the time being...

Since I'm clearly interested in something germaine to ME, and since so many others ask questions like this that are solely germaine to THEMSELVES, it never ceases to amaze me how many hopped-up, hypersensitive NEED TO GET LAID crab apple ICK's there are online who LEAP at the chance to condemn people for questions relative to sexual identity, nationality and genetics, religion, politics, etc. when it's completely uncalled for? Why are there so many idiots out in the world - and why are they busting chops ONLINE instead of taking care of their problem psyche's with a psychiatric clinic? Bloggers schmoggers - get off line and get to the behavioral health clinic STAT because I'm personally EXTREMELY tired of your lameness and the internet is not a substitute for professional help - in fact, it's THE OPPOSITE.

In short - I'm pretty tired of seeing innocent people ask very natural and normal questions, only to be lambasted & get e-"buckets of blood" chucked at them - you know?

Anyone out there want to join me in an e-bludgeon all morons campaign???? What do you say we write some cool macro that obliterates their id/authentication credentials whenever someone replies to an honest question with any form of "offense" or "shock", or any reply OTHER than something germane to the original question?? We can call it "idiot-proofing the internet, one moron at a time"....

i wont to beable to speak to here family and frends one day so douse anyone know any good web sights that can help me ?
i have a spelling problem u prick if u not gonna me properly insted of trying to make jokes go fuck yourself

Which Language Is Easier To Learn?

I have to learn a language next year for my school work and I have narrowed it down to my top two.I want learn either Polish(because I am part Polish) or German(because it is a cool language).Does anybody which language is easier? That would help me big time.

Which of these languages should i learn?

Irish - i'm english but with irish parents so i have an irish passport and dual nationality, but i don't think i think anyone really speaks it anymore.

German - my grandad speaks german because he was in the world war 2 and wants me to speak German so he doesn't forget to speak it.

Polish - My boyfriend speaks Polish but can speak English and we could speak it together in front of my parents if we have to talk about anything awkward..LOL

I'm currently a year ten student in the UK. I want to live in Poland when I'm older, I fell in love with the country when I went there for a week on a Holocaust study visit.

Ideally I'd like to study a law degree over there, but I don't speak Polish and I've heard that a Polish law degree taught in English doesn't hold much weight. So I started thinking about being an English teacher (EFL) in Poland, but to secondary school students.

I have two sentences in Polish that I want to learn so I can impress my Polish friends but there are a couple of words I do not know how to pronounce (these words will have a * next to them)...

Chcesz* pojsc* na piwo jutro?

Kiedy chcieliby* pojsc* na piwo?

Thankyou to anyone who can give me some help!!

Hi, guys!

I have a problem. I'm 15 years old and i'm polish, but i live in Bulgaria. I really would like to take a part in the program International Baccalaureat and it's for kids aged 17-19. This program is giving me the opportunity to study in foreign country. The problem is that i want to write an e-mail to ask a few questions about that scolarship, but i don't know how to write it polite. I want this letter to sound seriously. I can't write something like "Hi, what's up folks!".

Please help me!

im just wanting help on how to use good practice in a classroom to deal with a child from the Polish community who can speak very little English. Maybe some methods, and what the likes of theorists like Piaget have said about including children from different language barriers? Thank you

How to include language fluency in a resume?

I am trying to apply for a job as a translator and I am fully fluent in English and Polish. Trouble is, how can I stick that somewhere in my resume since none of my past job experiences have used my language skills. How can I make it blend in just right?

I decided when i was half asleep that i was going to start collecting conkers, one every year. and keep them in a big jar.
anyway, i want to label the conkers with the date & maybe the place i got it,
I had the idea to get a small white sticker and write them on that, and stick it on the conker,
what pen could i use that won't run when i paint over it with clear nail polish so it will stay solid and not crumble away, and so the sticker will stay on?

Thanks :]

Would you date a 40 years old polish man with no money, house decent job on a debt management and house repossession speaking broken english?

Which language should I learn?

I already know Spanish and French and I want to expand it to harder languages. I tried learning Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean, but they weren't really languages that interested me. So basically it's been boiled down to Polish and Russian for me. I love the sound of both, but I can't choose which one to learn. Which one should I learn, Polish or Russian? Btw, usefulness isn't really a factor for me. Thanks.

I have recently seen a document that was issued by the UK government to a Polish citizen. It was a document stating that the person had the rights to work in the UK. The document contained biographical information as well. For nationality, it was written "Poland" rather than "Polish". I am flabbergasted...I always thought people must write adjectives, and not nouns for nationality. Is it grammatically correct to write the country name for nationality? Can I write my nationality is the Netherlands on my CV rather than Dutch?

Ok so i live in America, but i am 1/4 polish i know its not much but my mom still cooks polish food now and then, my grandfather was 100% polish and he knew the language and cultures and all that stuff, though he didnt have a chance to pass any of it down to my mom, when ever i look in our old photo albums its always of my polish grandparents and stuff and it made me very curious now im thinking about learning the language and taking a trip over there, i was woundering what people in poland would think of an american that knew polish to the point where you could hold a conversation but with an accent of course. cause all i hear is about how people in Europe think Americans are horrible disgusting pigs who need a better education.

I need a nail polish color any ideas?
