Nonsense write ups at work, help?

I work in food service at a retirement home and the supervisors are enough to put me into that home.

Everyday we have "stand-up" where a supervisor recites a bible verse and the supervisors and the boss, along with the servers are all in the kitchen. This is basically "judgement" time, where they can critique you on work uniform and if your hair isn't the right way, or you have gum- they write you up.

My first write up was before I was on the clock and I was on the phone with my sister. (**Note- before I clocked in..) One of the supervisors saw me and reported me.

My second write up was not too long ago and it was about a tardy from 2008, and 2 call in sicks in April. They moved the time-roll back for absences. I asked my supervisor why I'm getting written up for something from 2008 and he commented "I honestly have no idea." But like a good person, I signed the paperwork.

The next write up I will be suspended.

So, I am almost sure to get written up again.

I spend 300+ dollars from Prom, including getting my nails done. (Acrylics) A girl that I work with told me that our boss wrote up 23 people in one day for having their nails done because she does not allow nails or nail polish. I spent a good amount to get them done. Personally I think they look stunning rather than unpainted fingernails.

The girl that told me this also got written up, with a supervisor attempting to rip off her nails before she began working.. Which was very unsuccessful and probably very painful.

I just do not quite understand this policy. They aren't really "supervising". They seem to be looking for a single fault we make, and write us up for it. Sometimes the supervisors will spy from another side of the building's windows and write down notes about us. Please tell me what I should do, and if I should begin looking for a new job.
Thank you.

I need the name of a city on the Polish German border at the outbreak of ww2.Preferably the city would be on the Polish side because i am writing a paper about the Germans invading.

Pronunciation of a polish word?

Well this question was asked already but I want to restate it because I just cannot perceive the sound one has to make when it is pronounced:

świat

now what is the sound you hear between the sh and the -ont as in ontology?

is that a v, an f, an h or even a k? What I hear sounds like a very quickly pronounced k, or a hard(what's the adjective for this) h.

I am not studying Polish(though I'd love to learn many languages if I had the chance and Polish is one of them) or something but I love Myslovitz's "Długość dźwięku samotności" (Sound of Solitude), I am trying to sing along, but gee Polish is so hard =))

Thank you.
Wow that was really quick. Thank you very much Alex, I practically racked my brain over it, finding its audio pronunciation and then playing it like a hundred times and sticking my ear to the speakers =D
Oh by the way it's via your answer that I now get to see "świat " and "Świąt!" both are words in Polish - that is unless they were wrongly spelled in the sites I found them.

So there's no n sound in the former but the latter has one right before the t because ą has an "n" sound attached to it as opposed to standard a.

Thanks again =)

Can polish speaking people understand croatian?

When I bought my car, the dealership had the price of the car written on the front window. Well, they scraped off the lettering, but it left some residue or something behind. When my windows fog up or get water on them, I can still see where the numbers were at. The water won't sit on that place. I'm guessing it's oil based or something like that. I dunno if it is shoe polish or not, I'm guessing that is what they use to write on the window. I tried Window Cleaner and Acetone on it and it didn't do anything. Are there any other products I can try?

I am African muslim and French Canadian and my boyfriend is Polish Catholic. We are very happy together. I met his family not long ago and we hit it off very well. The only problem are his dad and uncle who hate French Canadians and Muslims equally. They sometimes make derogatory comments towards both. What can we do?I personally just want to ignore them and not talk to them again, but my boyfriend wants to confront them.

I would love to learn Spanish. My native language is Polish and my English isn't that bad.
Do you think it's possible to learn Spanish online? Just basic sentences and a way to carry on a decent conversation. I will have to take Spanish for 2 years at a university but I would like to jump start the process.
If you tried learning other languages online:
How was your experience? Did you learn a lot? How long did it take you?
Thanks

Haha, extra points if you guess my religion!

So, I am a woman, an accountant by profession, always liked school (going back to get my MBA next semester), I am very stubborn, like to read, don't watch TV at all, am very compassionate towards animals, the youngest in the family, my parents are divorced, I play violin and speak Polish and French.

So, what do I look like? What was the first thought/impression you had of me while reading this?

Nail Polish??? HELP!!?

Don’t forget to star, if you find the question interesting. However I always ask myself this question, why do people answer, if they don’t find the question interesting … :) :) :)

I learned Spanish this year, and soon fell in love with languages in general. So, I decided that next year I want to learn a little bit more about my heritage and learn either Polish or Gaelic. But how many people actually speak Gaelic in Ireland today? No doubt it would be interesting to learn, but would it be usefull?

I am looking for a polish translation that in polish sounds like "Nuna". It might be a cutesy word or a term of endearment to a daughter or younger sister.

Plastic surgery used to be something only for the “rich and famous”, but it has become more accessible nowadays to ordinary people. Considering its appealing advantages, such as improving one’s chance of getting a job and helping one’s career, people are increasingly willing to go under the knife to get ahead of other peers, while others are concerned about its dangers. What is your view on this? Write an essay about 400 words on the following topic:

can someone help me learn some basic polish?

like hello, how are you, im good , goodbye and things like that
as in the language not the furntiure
as in the language not polish the furntiure

Sentence: Before I join the competition I must first polish/polish up my skills.

The dictionary says polishing skills or techniques means working on improving them. I want to know if this usage of the "word" polish is still common and acceptable in English speaking countries nowadays? Do polish and polish up mean the same thing in this sense? Which one is more widely used?

Hope native speakers can help me with this, thanks.

This is part of my paper, so i need native speakers to help me. thank you.
As for the details of the data collection, during the research, we look up all the words and meanings in the Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese (5th edition) from the first item in the first page to the end to find out the new words and new meanings of some words that are added to the new edition of the Dictionary. All the words are collected together, and then these words are to be divided into several sorts of groups according to the disciplines and rules listed in previous, for the convenience of further studying. To what extent the new cyberlanguages are added, and what kind of cyberlanguages is added to it is both studied with great carefulness in the research.

I don't. I don't think it's sensible. Imagine how many less people would have been able to achieve the American dream if they had to learn English fluently before coming here in the 19th and 20th century.

How many Irish, Italian, and Polish families would not be able to come here because they weren't that wealthy enough or didn't have the leisure time to learn English all by themselves.

I think the same applies today.

I really do not know what to believe. I've heard that when the planchette is "moved by the spirit", it's really just the person who is using it subconsciously moving it. But my friends tried it (and I know for a fact they were not just trying to scare me and made it up) and one of my friends, Aly, got slapped and was pinched (there were marks and everything) and she ran away crying, scared to death.
And then a bunch of other things happened, like a spirit named Eugene moved nail polish across the floor.

The part were I wrote my name, will be my name , which is ''Casey'', don't translate the 2 words ''(my name)'' haha.

And I will say it, if you write something like ''Cześć'', I don't know how to pronounce it, so write it so I can pronounce it.
oh hahahahaha sorry

How do you say in Polish ''Hello I'm ________(my name), I'm your friend, don't be scared sister ''

"Dream like you'll live forever, live like you'll die today."

I want a tattoo of this in Polish, but I want to make sure I use the correct spelling and phrasing.

Thank you!
