My family moved to America in 1911. On my mothers side of the family I am a pure blood Polish. I know that my great-great grandmother only spoke Polish, my great grandmother wanted nothing to do with it, my grandmother speaks a little Polish and my mom and I know a few words. My mom's maiden name is Kuzniewski. I want to know how I can learn about my roots because the information I just gave is all I know.

I have always been viewed as a little Polish girl, since I was a baby my mom always called me her "Little Polish Princess." I want to learn all I can about my ancestry and traditions etc.

For my wedding I looked up Polish wedding traditions and found a few that I loved. One was the family giving wine, bread and salt to the new couple. Another I loved was the Czypek. I don't know how accurate they are I just know that is what I found by doing research.

Please help me learn about where I came from.

i speak polish but im not sure on how to translate medical terms. does anyone know the name of the eye disease in english thats called iskra or something like that in polish?

So a friend of a friend decided it would be cool to write on my side-view mirror. No problem, that came off just fine with nail polish remover. However there was a rather large line of ink down the side of my car on the door under the mirror. I used the nail polish remover on that as well but I am left with an outline and a faded line of the ink. How do I get it off?

I really want to learn polish, even though its SUCH a hard language! The only words I know are 'good' and 'thank you'.
But can you also tell me how you pronounce the words too. Cause with polish, how you pronounce it is always different to how it looks.

I am part German and Polish, and I want to touch on my roots. Someday I want to go to Germany and study for a semester during college (Spring Break next year I'm going for a week), as well as Poland if I could, and I just want to brush up on the basics--- alphabet, pronunciation, vital vocabulary/phrases, etc.

Does anyone have any good FREE online helping tools suggestions? It means a lot to me, to learn about where I came from, because the rest of my family doesn't really care. :S

Her future is uncertain at this point, but I just took the time to learn the Polish anthem on guitar. She is 90 years old and is full of polish pride. Some of these people that can't speak any English at all have been living in the U.S. for 25+ years. They don't even try, its like they expect you to speak their language. When Im working I often spend 5-10 min explaining to them before they understand, its very aggervating. If I can I get someone that can speak their language, but its not always avalible. I think their should be a law that makes it a requirement to learn the English language before they can become a U.S. citizen. If I went to live in mexico, I would learn spanish, so I can communicate, why can't they do the same. I don't have a problem with people that speak broken down english becouse at least their trying, and I respect that. For the most part I can understand what their saying. I remember one time someone that was polish said to a manager, "You speak English I speak polish, this a problem." I think thats uncalled for. I feel that if you come to america you should learn how to speak english. Does this agervate you?

My native language is swedish, and i speak english and some spanish. I would like to know a slavic language, like polish or russian. I like how they sound and it's a more original choice than, let's say, french or german

A couple of months ago all my languages packs suddenly disappeared, and I want to install Polish language pack, from Microsoft web I can't do it as Polish cannot be download, because you are supposed to have it in optional updates, but I don't have any idea how to make my PC shows all the optional updates again, so here is my question.

Do you have any link with Polish language pack for ULTIMATE Windows 7?, if not, please tell me how to make all the languages packs appear again.
