Learn how to speak Polish

I'm buying a gift for a religious friend who grew up bilingual in Polish. In English, the King James Bible is often regarded as the most poetic, more so than new "plain English" translations, and for many years was held to be the standard English translation. Is there an equivalent in Polish-language translations?
When writing in polish i have a hard time on knowing when to use i and y because they have similar pronounciations . so i was wondering when to write i instead of y ?
I am planning on getting one of the two tattooed on my back and I want to get it perfect.
My friend speaks fluent Polish, but struggles with English. I want to learn Polish so that we can talk more easily. What are some good websites with Polish lessons that are FREE? I'd like to learn at least the equivalent of a high school Polish 1 course- verbs and nouns, grammar, vocabulary, etc. Something of the http://www.studyspanish.com caliber would be ideal! So... free polish lesson websites with lots to learn. Thanks!
Thanks for your help! Those are great, especially the last one which is exactly the sort of thing I had in mind.
I would like to attack all of them one day, but as for now I am learning Russian and Mandarin, so I can only add one more language to my current list.
Polish
- Most speakers
- I found Russian easy so far, so its grammar should also be pretty easy
- Economically a top upcoming nation of the EU?
Slovenian
- Less speakers, so I may have some unique opportunities it one day
- I find its grammar to be the most intellectually interesting
- Seems like a pretty nice place to live in, the nation seems decently wealthy
Icelandic
- Very few speakers (less than a million), but still exerts importance on economy
- Iceland is apparently a big place for green energy, which I would like to work on one day
- Should be easiest for an English speaker, as it may share many of the core vocabulary which is Germanic, unlike Polish and Slovenian which are Slavic
What say you? Help me choose!
I find Slovenian grammar especially interesting because it's one of the very few languages that retains a dual grammatical number. Of course I could learn Inuktitut which also has that feature, but I'd rather learn a national language of a country.
I'm taking a trip to Poland next summer and need to learn Polish before I go, Does anyone know a website or anything I can go to quicken my learn?
My mom is not a religious fanatic or anything, but she won't let me wear black nail polish. I'm not 'emo' or 'goth', or whatever most posers call themselves, but I just like that color for nails! I'm planning to have a talk with her, but she's very hard to convince and get through to. I know the basic words...what should I say? To convince? She's afraid I'll become goth... o_v
I'm a computer lab supervisor and I'm trying to help a Polish woman change her profile picture on naszaklasa.pl. I can't read or understand Polish and even though she can, she's having a difficult time trying to complete this task. We figured out how to upload a picture but the profile (main) picture is still blank. Can someone please tell me in English what to do (what icons to click on and so forth)?
Thanks.
I did try that, but i can't figure out how to change the main profile picture.

Whenever I would tell my babcia that I was bored, she would reply with this phrase which basically meant "go spit and catch it" in Polish. I've since forgotten how to say it and she's dead so she can't tell me. Help? Also, if you could write it out phonetically as well, that would be helpful.
I have Rosetta Stone, and am subscribed to many different Blogs and Podcasts that help teach Polish, but I wouldn't mind some real one on one chatting with someone. My son & I are Polish and his dad grew up in Poland so is fluent, I am not but want our son to be. He isn't around very often, so if our son learns it is up to me! Any one want to help??
I know that my name originated in Poland but I don't know its meaning. Does anybody know what Walshever or Walsilber might mean? Thanks in advance.
It's the same letters except there's little marks on them. But no other "letters". I don't wanna have everything in Polish, but I wanna type certain words or phrases in Polish using their alphabet, or should I just use the English alphabet, it won't always come out right, though.
When writing in polish i have a hard time on knowing when to use ś and sz because they have similar pronounciations . so i was wondering when to write ś instead of sz ?
I have foreign mates and I like to email them in their own language. But when I use translation websites and copy and paste, they say its wrong and they only understand some of it! If you can test the website before you answer!
My Mother speaks English but her Mother only spoke Polish. My Mother was born in America and spoke only English learned from her father who spoke good English. Her Mother never learned English and spoke Polish with her husband but never talked to her daughters much. The kids only knew a few words of Polish.
Have you ever heard of something like this before? It must be somewhat common in immigrant communities?
When writing in polish i have a hard time on knowing when to use ć and cz because they have similar pronounciations . so i was wondering when to write ć instead of cz ?
I am a lil polish and I would really like to learn it.........I would like to hear it on line.
I need "GOD IS LOVE" translated.
Because I always get the accent mixed up so I was wondering how similar the languages are.
Is it better to talk to him in our respective languages or shall we alternate (on day French, the other day polish)?
He will go to public school, so he will definitely learn english there, we are just worried about him not speaking our languages very well.

Polish to english please
Thanks!!
My father is teaching me, but when I'm at my Mom's house, i want to be able to practice an learn on my own without purchasing a big and expensive program like Rosetta Stone. In my old Spanish class at school, we used to go to studyspanish.com and it would provide some free lessons, tests and games. Now that i am learning Polish, i am wondering if there is a website like that out there for learning Polish. Help please!
I know in a lot of European countries they take English and a lot of them can hold they're own in English. But I am wondering about Poland, as I may go there for exchange. Do a lot of Polish people speak English? Or not many? I want to be in a sink or swim situation so I can learn Polish better thanks!
I am trying to teach myself to speak Polish, but I am having some trouble pronouncing the letters. My first language is English and Polish is not coming to me as fast as Spanish and Italian have.
How do you polish it and what do you use to polish it?
I'm wondering how often I should polish my violin. I play it at school every day and the rosin can build up under the strings by the bridge if I forget to wipe it after I play (this happens often).
The violin is 93 years old. It has a nice pale-orange varnish on it.
I have a bottle of polish that my mom bought. It has Fiddlebrite written on it. I'm not sure if I should use it on this violin or not.
I'd also like some suggestions on what kind of violin polish to use, Thanks.
