So I've moved into a new place and my new roommate only speaks Polish. It's very uncomfortable not being able to converse with her and it's a bit of a hindrance when we need to talk about things about the apartment. Therefore, I'm looking to learn to speak Polish. I would like to become fluent. I'm just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best and easiest way to do this. Thanks.
I have taken 2 years of high school Russian and am wondering if taking/learning polish will be easier or about the same as learning, say Swedish.
I have noticed that Russian and Polish share some of the same words (exp. Kto? is "who" in both) So would it be easier to learn Polish now that I have the Russian base?
This would be my third language (English base, French and Russian), and I have a polish heritage.
Help would be appreciated!
This question is for non Polish speakers only - I'm writing it into my story and I need to know what would you compare the sound of it to. I'm a native Polish speaker so it's a little difficult for me to remove myself from my own language in order to hear it from a foreigner's perspective. I compared it to "shuffling through a pile of dry leaves" - what do you think?
Ok, I wonder how do they take care of the big hulls on yachts, Im talking about 60' and bigger yachts.
I mean, do they polish/wax the whole surface by hand with some compund or what? It should take a long long time to get it done.
Can someone explain to me step by step how it is done??
is there any chance of having it changed into english?
I have a question which language is harder Polish or German?
OK This is a rather embarrassing question But how do you remove Nail polish without nail polish remover. My niece talked me into getting a girly makeover but wouldn't to remove the makeup ,pink nail polish and styled hair. I've got like 3 coats of pink nail polish on my nails and toes so how do you take it off? Also-how do you remove waterproof mascara, eyeshadow? How do you uncurl hair?
just wondering? also can anyone recommend a good book to help me learn it or cd book for my car. Iv been thinking of taking up another language and since polish women r awsome i fgure why not.
Hi guys! there are many institutions offering Polish language certification. However I am itching to know exactly what certifying body is "the" official one? any institution like Alliance Francais or Instituto Cervantes? is there any branch within Asia? or should I pack my bags and land in Warsaw?
Thanks!
"tej nawet jakies polki dorwałas" i have this comment on my facebook from a polish girl. can anybody tell me what it means? online translators didn't help!!
I work with polish people and all the polish people at my work the women speak good english but the men only speak basic english why is this?
Maybe its just the few at my work but both are friendly and helpful.
I know that knowing one language can make it easier to learn another, such as supposedly it's easier to learn French if you know Spanish, so would my knowledge of French make it easier to learn Polish?
For brand new stainless steel cookware, if you run a kitchen towel or tissue over the edge or even the smooth surface, you can wipe off some gray color or charcoal color polish residue, you know what I'm talking about. Especially, at the edge, it is hard to clean them off completely. Don't know whether they are bad to your health. Anything that can clean them off completely and easily?
It seems, those polish residue is not like grease or oil, it is not hot soap water soluble.
Ok so im just learning Polish and i was wondering the word for turtle so i looked it up and got żółw . As you can understand I have no idea how to pronounce that. Can anyone tell me how to say it?
So its like shuhv ?
I got a few questions
1 Is it easy to use?
2 Will it teach me everything I need to know to hold a decent conversation with a group of polish speakers?
3 Will it just teach me pronunciations, or does it do spelling, grammar and pronunciations?
4 Is it accurate? I have heard of people who have used Rosetta Stone to learn a language before, and it teaching them wrong words
Thanks a bunch, and any other information would be AWSOME!
People have a really hard time pronouncing my last name (Skrzypczak). They say that there is only one vowel in it. However, I think that there are actually two (since the zy vowel doesn't exist in the English language). Is this true? In polish, are there vowels that are completely non-existent in the english language?
Please answer? I am in the working class, please keep that in mind. I prefer anything with audio and/or video, but I don't NEED them. They'd just make it a lot easier. Thank you.
My daughter is getting married and somehow I got the task of planning her surprise wedding shower. Since almost every woman at the shower will be Polish and our family is not, I want to play one shower game with written instructions in English and in Polish. My idea is to have a large bowl of candy hearts on a table and the guests have to guess how many candies are in the bowl in order to win a gift basket. Therefore, I need to know which of the following sentences is correct. I got these versions from the internet (free English to Polish translations). I have no idea which is the correct one to use for the two signs that I am making. I'd hate to embarrass myself and my daughter by writing the wrong words. Please help!
ARE THESE CORRECT?
Guess how many candies are in this bowl for a prize.
Zgadnij, jak wiele cukierkow sa w tym miska dla nagrode.

I appreciate your help but I really need to hear from someone who speaks Polish fluently. I've tried the free online English to Polish translators (such as http://www.poltran.com/pl.php4) and they are not grammatically correct, so I've been told).
Kelly, that suggestion would be really appreciated. The shower is a couple months away so I've got time to prepare.
this has been killing me for ages ive been planning to approach him, but what do i say when i get to that stage?
i dont want to speak in polish and embarrass myself :/ i know a few phrases but before i actually talk to him in polish i want to get to know him what should i say?
I know Yahoo seeks only English words.. But I have an old song in my head and wonder is that the true translation?
Moja droga jacie kocham
Kocham ciebie calem serce
Ok maybe my translation isn't so well.. Translate the English to Polish.. Which the 2 above should have been..
I love you so.
Love you with all my heart.
